As we draw towards the evening of the first full season of rugby in over two years, we look forward to holding our last major pre-match lunch of the season for players who have played for Portsmouth RFC over the years and decades. At the same time, we will be paying tribute to Dr Peter Golding who stepped down as club President this year after fifty years dedicated service to Portsmouth RFC as a player, committee member, Chairman and President.
The date will be Saturday, 2nd April 2022 (yes, the 40th anniversary of the start of the Falklands war!) and we shall meet in the main clubhouse from 12 noon before sitting down to a sumptuous three-course lunch prepared by our very own Jimmy Martin at 1pm.
Our senior men’s 1st XV will be hosting Andover RFC in the last league match of the season, kicking off at 3pm, which should give us ample time to chat and reminisce before watching the rugby!
Please check your diaries as we would be delighted to welcome as many former players and members of our senior men’s and women’s teams as possible.
The cost will be £20 per head as follows:
Starter: Duck Liver Pate with toasted Focaccia and a caramelised onion chutney OR slices of seasonal melon with colourful berries and mango coulis.
Main: Pan fried pork with red wine and wild mushroom sauce, roasted new potatoes and seasonal vegetables OR Beetroot basil and cherry tomato tart with leek and lentil puree.
Dessert: Rich coffee and chocolate mousse with chocolate shortbread
